A few months back I made a drop-in visit to Rennes Design Studio here in Boston during one of Julia Okun’s open houses and absolutely fell in love with her work. Julia started Rennes—named after a château in Southwestern France—back in 2008, and has been creating stunningly simplistic accessories ever since.
While beautiful bags and pouches seem to be her mainstay (constructed with lusciously soft leather), she creates a small collection of apparel (this Rolled Hem Sweater is so good), and has recently started crafting her own line of ceramics. If you know me, you know I have sticky fingers when it comes to mugs: I am constantly ogling the next one I want for my little collection, and you can bet that I most certainly have those white speckled mugs above high on my wish list. The two investment pieces I’ve been dreaming of since the second I laid eyes on them in her studio? This tote bag in the perfect hue of leather and this speckled wallet below.
